Ms dos 6.22 floppy images download2/8/2024 ![]() I used to write screen scrollers and split screen parallax scrolling routines mostly for the fun of it. ![]() It had the same processor as the BBC - a 6502 with an inbuilt BASIC interpretter. It was easy to program TSRs by temporarily disabling interrupts and chucking some code in to execute during the flyback phase of the TV's screen update state for example. yet, even as I sit here, I feel I have 'wasted' my life.ĪmazingTech, just so as you know, although I started off with a ZX81, I actually became a Commodore man - I just loved the simplicity of it's intruction set and use of registers. ![]() I was a member of the Bristol Computer Club at the time and some people travelled hundreds of miles just to look at my PC. And the 4 x 2GB SCCI HDDs and DAT drive added another £1,900. Two sound cards which included (and I still haveit to this day) an 8-bit ISA Roland SCC1 Sound Canvas which was another £550 alone. I had another 72MB of system RAM costing another £2,000. I had an obscene amount of memory: 43MB on the Hercules Chrome (I think it was a 731) graphics card £1,200 + another £1,200 for the memory. At the time it was valued at around £12,000. My first dot matrix printer: Citizen Swift 24, cost me £360. It took 6 months of scrimping and saving until I had the £320 for my first hard drive card which ahad a whopping capacity of 20MB. I part-exchanged when I upgraded to an Amstrad PC1640 with two floppy drives. My first PC was an Amstrad PC1512 with just a single floppy drive. I couldn't afford the ZX80 at the time of release (about £50) however, by the time I'd saved up, the 81 was released. or even some 360's if you can find an old 5.25" around? Haveyou tried DOS 3.x or 5.x on these on a 720 floppy at all. I used Vectras but these were bit newer, 486 I guess though many 386 Compaqs and those were from the era of Compaq DOS but you could still boot them with standard DOS too. or if, as has been suggested, they don't understand 1.44 floppies then you'll need a 720 drive and 720 floppies. If they won't boot off floppy forget them. that had a massive 40Mb IDE drive Seagate ST157a I seem to remember :-) Just find another machine that DOES boot if these won't. fist computer I built from bits myself was a 386SX25 though I'd used many from 8086 upwards and pre-PC. It does seem if you just need a PC to be able to run half a dozen ISA slots you are going about this a difficult way. if the options are fixed "type x" hard disc - are we talking IDE here or earlier RLL / MFM type hard disc etc? If you can get the floppy working in the same machine it is less of an issue anyway surely. Hopefully one of them works (fingers crossed). Guys, let me try the couple of things suggested here tomorrow that I haven't done yet and I will post my results. If it won't boot from a floppy then it doesn't have anything to do with the HDD, as leew stated earlier. This is why I keep steering people away from it being a HDD error. Same goes for the HDD, and FDD controller.Īmazing - Yeah I have tried that one. You all need to realise that if there are ANY incompatibilities with the system, you get an "Invalid Configuration" error and are foced to insert the setup floppy to fix them. Yes, I have 100% confirmed the HDD is compatible. I have actually completely installed DOS onto the HDD from another PC, but when I try and boot from it in either of these PC's (remember I have 2 of these PC's and they are having identical problems) I get the "No Operating System" error. T0t0 - The ROM bios allows you to select up to a 1.2mb FDD, I am going to try older floppies tomorrow. The PC controls a furnace (it is a smelting factory) so there are a number of different PLC's for temp monitoring etc. Most of the cards are proprietry and are built by the sane designers of the software. I am obviously missing something simple ( I hope).ĭragon - The ISA cards communicate with various equipment. All I got was an error "Cannot load operating system" I even then added path variables to the DOS directory, himem.sys and setver.exe into my config.sys but that didn't work either.Īny help in getting these mission critical machines running would be appreciated. Placed HDD in working DOS 6.22 PC and ran FDISK to create partitions, I then formatted /s the C drive, copied DOS into the C:\DOS directory and tried booting off this in both systems. 'rem' out all redundant lines from autoexec.bat and config.sys "Starting MS-DOS" message and then my systems hang. My problem is that in BOTH pc's when trying to boot from either DOS boot discs I get to the I have also created DOS 6.22 Setup discs. I have created basic DOS startup discs from a DOS 6.22 platform using /s command I have run the system configs from 1.44mb floppy and the systems are steup correctly. I have 2 HP Vectra 386/25 PC's that I am trying to rebuild with DOS 6.22
